CyberHounds Earn Sixth Consecutive CyberPatriot State Title

Carmel High School students are advancing on the national stage in cybersecurity after earning top honors in the CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, marking the sixth consecutive year Carmel High School teams have claimed state championship recognition.

Established by the Air and Space Forces Association in 2009, CyberPatriot was created to excite, educate and motivate students toward careers in cybersecurity and other science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines critical to the nation’s future. At the heart of the program is the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, which places middle and high school students in the role of newly hired IT professionals responsible for securing a small company’s network.

During a series of online competition rounds, teams are given virtual operating systems and challenged to identify and correct cybersecurity vulnerabilities while maintaining essential services. This year, more than 4,700 middle and high school teams from around the world registered to compete.

From there, just 28 teams nationwide will earn the opportunity to compete in the in-person National Finals Competition in Bethesda, Maryland, in March 2026.
