Carmel Clay Schools Celebrates IREAD Success

Carmel Clay Schools is thrilled to share our outstanding IREAD results, reflecting the incredible growth, resilience, and determination of our students. Across every measure, our learners are proving that hard work and focused instruction lead to extraordinary outcomes.

It’s not just about the margin of growth for all students — we are especially proud of the closing of the achievement gap with staggering gains from several key student groups.

  • Special Education students achieved a 14.9 percentage point increase from 2024 to 2025, and an extraordinary 25.1 percentage point increase since 2021.

  • Multilingual Learners (MLL) posted the largest single-year gain among all CCS-reported groups, soaring 24.9 percentage points from 2024 to 2025.

These results are a direct reflection of the dedication and expertise of our students, teachers, building leaders, and Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (CIA) administrators. Our unwavering focus on literacy — ensuring that every CCS student develops the foundational skills needed for future success — continues to deliver remarkable, measurable progress.

The state began assessing students in Grade 2 to identify early literacy readiness. We are proud to report that 85.9% of CCS second graders have already passed or are on track to pass IREAD, with 80.5% meeting the standard in Grade 2. This early momentum sets the stage for even greater success in Grade 3 and beyond.
