This morning, Superintendent Dr. Thomas Oestreich appeared on WISH-TV to help kick off the 2025–26 school year, and true to form, he made sure the spotlight was shared with the real stars of Carmel Clay Schools: our teachers and students.

Joining Dr. Oestreich were teacher Mrs. Powell and incoming 6th grader Abby. Representing the heart of CCS, both brought energy and excitement to the conversation. Abby, like many new middle schoolers, is most excited about one big milestone — getting her locker! (Pro tip for all 6th graders: practice that combo this week at orientation.)

The segment highlighted CCS’s academic momentum, including strong AP performance and expanding work-based learning programs. Mrs. Powell, a model of dedication and professionalism, shared her passion for student connection and great communication with students and families.
