The Creekside Middle School TechCats had the opportunity to take two qualifying teams to the World Championship in Dallas, Texas. One team qualified based on its state competition skills score. The other Creekside team qualified as a winner of the Jack Klein Award, given to two teams based on their judge's interview. While in Dallas students were able to compete with 10 other teams during the three-day competition. 

The students learned a tremendous amount about the design process, coding, collaboration, and teamwork. The competition is an international experience as TechCats competed against teams from around the United States as well as the Ivory Coast, Germany, and Thailand. All of the participants were included in the Opening Ceremony where they recognized all of the countries represented at the competition. They were also able to attend the closing ceremony where the final competition took place. Two Canadian teams won the championship. 

"We are extremely thankful to Creekside Middle School and the parents who helped us be able to attend this life-changing event," remarked TechCats coach, Barbara Glenesk. "Without their support, the students would have never been able to go. We are looking forward to creating a new robot next year with the hopes of attending again."
