CARMEL, Ind. – Jennifer Nelson-Williams has announced her resignation from the Carmel Clay Board of School Trustees. Nelson-Williams will continue to serve on the board through the end of the calendar year.

Nelson-Williams was unanimously selected to fill the District 2 seat in October 2021 following the retirement of longtime board member Pam Knowles. A Carmel resident since 2003 and native Hoosier, Nelson-Williams has brought a strong commitment to public education, community service, and civic engagement to her role on the board.

Her connection to Carmel Clay Schools is both professional and personal. Nelson-Williams is the mother of two children who attended Carmel Clay Schools. During their school years, she was an active school community member, volunteering in classrooms, serving on school committees, and tutoring students as a reading specialist. She later continued her service as a reading tutor through United Way’s Read UP Indiana program.

Nelson-Williams is the President and CEO of Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Funeral Home, Inc., a position she has held since 1991. She has also demonstrated a longstanding commitment to community leadership and volunteerism. She has served on the Board of Directors for Hooverwood Living since 1991 and currently serves as Treasurer of the Executive Board. She has also served as an Ambassador for Gleaners Food Bank and has been involved with Ready to Run Indiana, as well as numerous community events throughout Carmel, including CarmelFest, Late Night on Main, Bike Carmel, and Porchfest.

Reflecting on her service, Nelson-Williams previously shared, “Our children are the future of our community. It is our duty to nurture, protect, and assist them during their developmental years. The Carmel Clay Schools are the crown jewel of our community, and we all benefit when the school and our children succeed.”

Following Nelson-Williams’ announcement, the Carmel Clay Schools Board of School Trustees will seek a candidate to fill the District 2 seat. Applications will be accepted beginning December 16 through December 31. Candidates must be current residents within the District 2 boundary.
