Carmel, IN – Jill Schipp, Principal at Prairie Trace Elementary, has been named the 2020 Carmel Clay Schools Principal of the Year.
Mrs. Schipp received the surprise announcement at her home with a decorative yard sign and celebratory car parade comprised of staff, principals and administrators. Prairie Trace Elementary Assistant Principal Chard Reid and Superintendent Dr. Michael Beresford arrived at her doorstep to present her with the recognition.
Mrs. Schipp began her career at Carmel Clay Schools in 2002 as a Special Education Instructional Assistant at Towne Meadow Elementary. Throughout her time at CCS, she has served as a first grade teacher, kindergarten teacher and assistant principal. In 2013, she joined Prairie Trace Elementary as Principal. Mrs. Schipp earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from University of Southern Indiana and her Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Butler University.
Mrs. Schipp received several heartwarming and inspirational nominations from her colleagues:
“Despite incredible personal health obstacles, Jill has continued to lead her school community with determination and grace. She has courageously put her story forward to inspire others during difficult times. She genuinely cares about others and is a beautiful example for her staff, students, and larger community to emulate in their own lives.”
“Jill is one of the most determined administrators I have ever met. She always is looking to make her school the best place it can possibly be for her students, teachers, and families. She is loyal and a fierce advocate for her PTE family. The best part of watching Jill as a leader is that she is that in addition to promoting strong academics, she also promotes strong hearts.”
Prairie Trace Elementary Assistant Principal Chard Reid was honored to recognize Mrs. Schipp. “Jill genuinely loves others, and she has intentionally cultivated a culture of care at Prairie Trace Elementary which positively impacts every relationship in our building,” said Reid. “Jill is a selfless and inspirational leader who puts students at the center of everything we do. She loves every child unconditionally and brings out the best in everyone at Prairie Trace Elementary.”
