Middle School Students Find Magic in Arts, Leadership, and Independence at Disney World
DisneyTrip2

It was a hot, busy, and inspiring inaugural Arts Immersive Trip to Disney World last week! Carmel Clay Schools staff chaperones led about 50 incoming 8th and 9th-grade students on a four-night experience that blended the magic of Disney with hands-on learning.

As part of the immersive experience, students participated in workshops led by Disney professionals, including a theatrical performance clinic, a design challenge to create their own theme park, and a leadership seminar focused on collaboration and communication.

More than just arts education, this trip helped students develop independence in a supportive environment. They learned to manage daily responsibilities such as getting up and out the door on time, budgeting meal cards, planning free time, and checking in with their groups. Students also built friendships and strengthened their teamwork skills—learning to collaborate, support one another, and grow together throughout the trip.

The trip was a great success and is expected to become an annual event. While the opportunity is open to students with a strong interest in the arts, the program will intentionally remain small to ensure a high-quality and manageable experience.

Stay tuned for future details about how to get involved in next year’s Disney Arts Immersive Trip!
