Carmel, IN – September 4, 2024 – Carmel High School is proud to announce that 211 of our students have earned the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma, a significant achievement that highlights their academic dedication and excellence. These students represent 1% of the 21,000 recipients nationwide who earned this honor in 2024, out of more than 100,000 students from 2,500 schools across the country who participated in the AP Capstone program.
The AP Capstone Diploma program is a rigorous, project-based learning experience that develops critical thinking, research, collaboration, and presentation skills—abilities that are highly valued by colleges and universities across the United States. Students who pursue this diploma engage in a sequence of courses, which culminate in original research projects and presentations that challenge them to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways. To receive the AP Capstone Diploma, students must earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research, and on four additional AP Exams of their choice.
Carmel High School is committed to providing students with opportunities to excel academically, offering 35 Advanced Placement (AP) courses across a wide range of subjects. This extensive selection allows students to explore their interests and challenge themselves in preparation for their future academic and career endeavors.
“We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work and dedication in earning the AP Capstone Diploma,” said Dr. Tim Phares, Principal of Carmel High School. “This accomplishment not only reflects their individual commitment to excellence but also underscores the strength of our AP program in fostering a culture of academic achievement.”
