91 DECA Students Headed to ICDC

Carmel High School’s DECA chapter recently returned from the State Career Development Conference (SCDC) with a historic haul of trophies, certifications, and international qualifications. Of the 220 students who competed at the state level, an impressive 91 have earned their spot at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC).

DECA Competition

DECA is a global non-profit student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.

At the State Career Development Conference (SCDC), students are put to the test through rigorous, industry-validated exams and "role-play" scenarios in which they must solve real-world business problems on the spot for a panel of judges.

Chapter Milestones & The Carmel Cafe

It wasn't just individual competitors who stood out; our school-based enterprises and community initiatives also took center stage:

DECA Competition
  • The Carmel Cafe and Market: Our student-run business earned Gold recertification for both Food Service and Retail Operations. This is the highest level of recognition a school store can achieve, signifying excellence in business standards and operations.
  • Thrive Level Success: The Community Service Chapter Campaign achieved the Thrive Level. This prestigious ranking recognizes our students' impact on the local community and earned the chapter two additional spots at ICDC.

Special recognition goes to Vardaan Goel, who pulled off a rare and remarkable feat. Vardaan qualified for ICDC in three separate events:

  1. Automotive Services Marketing
  2. Stock Market Game
  3. Virtual Business Challenge Hotel

Qualifying in one event is a challenge; qualifying in three is a masterclass in versatility and business acumen.
