Carmel Clay Schools and the Carmel Police Department are proud to announce that they have been recognized as safety leaders at the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) Conference, held in Indianapolis. This esteemed recognition underscores the organizations' unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff.

The NASRO Conference is an annual event that brings together professionals from across the nation who are dedicated to enhancing school safety and security. This year's conference took place in Indianapolis and attracted a diverse range of experts, law enforcement officers, educators, and administrators.

Congratulations to the following winners from Carmel Clay Schools and CPD:

• David Woodward, Director of Student Services, won the statewide INSROA Safety Leader of the Year Award.
• Officer Juan Navarette from Mohawk Trails Elementary won the National "Bridge the Gap" Award for positive student relationship building.
• Carmel Police Department won the National Model Agency Award.

The Carmel Police Department has been a tremendous partner for Carmel Clay Schools, ensuring the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff. The school resource officers (SROs) assigned to Carmel Clay Schools are highly trained professionals who work closely with educators and administrators to implement safety protocols, provide guidance and support to students, and foster positive relationships within the school community.

With the passage of the Safety Referendum, CCS has been able to place at least one SRO in each school, with a total of 21 officers in the specialized unit.
