Carmel High School DECA students had a successful weekend hosting "Project Synthesis," the culminating event following hours of after-school mentoring. Guided by students Hrithik Arcot, Athul Ramkumar, and Krishay Arora, the event showcased exceptional talents and creativity among the next generation.
The event was a "Shark Tank" style competition, with the winning project, Huggs Bear, offering therapeutic comfort after minor injuries. The innovative middle schoolers developed the cute stuffed bear, which features adjustable limbs and built-in ice packs, providing personalized and soothing hugs for cuts, bumps, and bruises.
Despite cold temperatures, the event drew an impressive turnout. Mayor Sue Finkham opened the event, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young talent, while local entrepreneur Doug Heath delivered an inspiring closing speech, encouraging participants to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
The event was only one of the major events this weekend for CHS DECA students. More than 175 students participated in the district conference and competed in role-play events in front of business leaders from the community. Ninety-eight students qualified to compete at this year's state conference.
DECA provides invaluable real-world business and marketing experience for students. It is clear these talented Greyhounds are amazing role models for middle school students. As we celebrate this weekend's achievement, we anticipate future endeavors that continue to empower and inspire the leaders of tomorrow.
