Dr. Michael Beresford has been named the District V Superintendent of the Year by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents. Dr. Beresford was selected by his peers for his professionalism, communications, community involvement, and leadership demonstrated over the past year.
Dr. Beresford has served in public education for 40 years and is in his fourth year at Carmel Clay Schools. He began his career as a high school English and journalism teacher. During his career, he also served as a school counselor, director of counseling, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent.
Dr. Beresford demonstrated his leadership as he guided the district through the pandemic, making the often difficult decisions that allowed Carmel Clay Schools to stay open and offer uninterrupted learning throughout the 2021-2022 school year. Dr. Beresford is a strong supporter of public education and has collaborated with local and state legislators to ensure Indiana teachers are supported and the state continues to attract the best and brightest educators.
“This recognition is special because it comes from my peers,” remarked Dr. Beresford. “I always say I am the luckiest person in the world because I get to work with an amazing team of educators dedicated to the students of Carmel Clay Schools. I am honored to serve as their superintendent.”
