Welcome to College Wood Elementary!
The present College Wood building opened in the fall of 2004 along with Creekside Middle School. The 126th Street/Shelborne campus now is the home of a transportation office with school bus storage and West Clay Elementary. An outdoor learning lab and various athletic fields and playgrounds are also part of the campus.
All students are supported by a host of staff members in addition to the classroom teacher. Each child benefits from the daily presence of a School Resource Officer, registered nurse, social worker, office personnel, a media specialist, and art, music, wellness and STEM teachers. In addition, children qualifying to receive additional or special services are provided needed support. Custodial staff, food service workers, and bus drivers compliment the school by maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe daily environment.
We strive to challenge each and every student to reach their fullest potential. Over the years, College Wood has received both national recognition as a Blue Ribbon School and state recognition as a Four Star School. Academic teams representing College Wood have consistently scored in the top twenty-five percent of participating schools.
The cardinal is the state bird and our school mascot - "Jimmy Cardinal." He was named after Mr. James Moore when he retired as principal of College Wood Elementary.
