HEARING SCREENINGS:

Hearing screenings for all 1st and 4th grade students will be conducted on Thursday, September 10. Students in 2nd, 3rd, or 5th grade who are new to Carmel Clay Schools will also be screened. The purpose of the statewide hearing screening program is to identify students at risk for hearing difficulties that may adversely affect their health or school performance. 

Any students who fail the initial screening will be rescreened two or more weeks later. If a student does not pass the rescreen, a letter will be sent home. No notification will be sent home if a student passes the screening.

STUDENT COUNCIL:

Student Council is returning for the 2026–2027 school year—exclusively for 4th and 5th grade students! This year’s teacher representatives are Miss Sonderman and Mrs. Gonzalez. Ask your student for the detailed flyer on how students can run for Student Council. This will be available Tuesday, September 8th-Monday, September 14th (3 pm deadline). Please note that only two students per class will be elected to serve. Speech and voting in class will occur Tuesday, September 15-Thursday, September 17th. Confirmation will be sent via parent email Friday after school. 

VOLUNTEERS:

All volunteers for Carmel Clay Schools must submit and pass a background check with SafeVisitor/Safe Hiring Solutions. If you have lived outside of the state of Indiana, there may be additional costs associated with the background request. SafeVisitor/Safe Hiring Solutions will reachout to you via e-mail if additional funds are applicable. Please make sure to check your email, including spam/junk folders. These fees must be paid within 30 days of the e-mail request or the application will be cancelled.

SCHOOL DISMISSAL MANAGER:

ATTENDANCE: Report absences or late arrivals prior to 8:00 am (8:40 am for late start). For pre-arranged absences of 2 days or more, please also complete this absence form in addition to School Dismissal Manager. 

LEAVING EARLY: Add an exception in School Dismissal Manager and select, "Leaving Early." Indicate if your child will be returning to school or leaving for the day. Bring your picture identification into the office to sign out your child. We are unable to call students to the office prior to your arrival.

DISMISSAL: Complete any changes to your child's default dismissal no later than 1:30 pm on the date of the change. We are not able to make changes after that time.To change your child's default dismissal, please contact the office.

GHOSTS & GOBLINS FUN RUN:

Get ready for a spooktacular morning of fun at the Carmel Education Foundation Ghosts & Goblins 1M/5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 24th at Carmel High School.
Choose the 1-mile or 5K course—both are timed—and the 5K offers prizes for top finishers in every age category. Festivities begin at 8:00 a.m., with the 1-mile race kicking off at 9:00 a.m. and the 5K at 9:15 a.m. Costumes are optional but highly encouraged for extra festive flair! This family-friendly fundraiser benefits Carmel Clay Schools students and teachers through Carmel Education Foundation’s classroom grants, scholarships, and district-wide programs.
