COLLEGE WOOD STUDENT AND FAMILY ASSISTANCE

Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year! As a school family, we want to make sure all College Wood students and their families are able to meet their basic needs. We know that when students and families have difficulty meeting basic financial, medical, social and emotional needs, these areas of need may negatively impact students in multiple life areas, including school performance.

College Wood Elementary is privileged to have a close connection with multiple Hamilton County community agencies which are able to support families in the following areas:

If you are interested in being considered for any of the resources available, please complete the referral form listed below. Community agencies and their resource opportunities are ever-changing. This referral form allows us to provide you with the most up-to-date information on resources available. The replies to this form will come directly to our School Social Worker, Sarah Brubaker, and will be kept confidential from all other Carmel Clay School staff and students.

We understand that each family’s situation is unique. If you would like to speak to our School Social Worker directly about your situation, you can contact her at sbrubake@ccs.k12.in.us or by phone at (317) 733-6430 ext. 2058.

FAMILY LITERACY NIGHT

BOX TOPS

College Wood has participated in the General Mills Box Tops for Education program for the last eight years.  By clipping and submitting the $0.10 labels found on participating products, College Wood families have raised over $28,000 for the PTO!  Box Tops is changing to fit today's families.  The Box Tops mobile app allows you to scan your store receipt and instantly add Box Tops to our school's online earnings.  If your package has a traditional Box Tops clip, cut it off and attach it to the form located here.  If your package has a new Scan label, there's no need to clip; just use the Box Tops app to scan your store receipt within 14 days of purchase.  Stay tuned for details about a prize drawing at the end of November!

WALK TO SCHOOL DAY

Mark your calendars for October 2nd to join us for the 23rd annual Walk to School Day!  The idea behind Walk to School Day is to have parents, students, faculty and staff walk together with a purpose - to promote health, safety, physical activity and concern for the environment.

CREEKSIDE CAT RACE

The annual Creekside Cat Race is quickly approaching, Saturday, September 28th beginning at 8:30 am in the Village of West Clay at 12775 Horseferry Rd. Carmel, IN 46032.

For those of you not familiar with the Cat Race, it is a 5K walk/run family and community event with 1000+ runners/walkers that helps to raise funds for Creekside athletics and activities.  Last year, with the funds from the Cat Race, we offered 30 different clubs which were attended by more than 500 Creekside students, reconditioned athletic equipment, purchased team jerseys, maintained the facilities, hired event workers and officials, and provided resources to recognize our scholar athletes.

Registration Competition Among Elementary Schools - To increase excitement at the elementary level, we're having a registration competition among West Clay, Towne Meadow, and College Wood.  The grade level at each school that has the most participants registered for the race will win an activities day at Creekside with the Wellness classes!  All you have to do is register using the link below, choose College Wood and select the appropriate grade level.

To be guaranteed a t-shirt, please register by September 9th.
