Student Life

Fourth and Fifth Grade Choirs are extracurricular ensembles that are open to all interested students.  Students will learn proper singing techniques, musicianship and appreciation for choral music.  They also learn how fun it is to sing with a group!  Both choirs perform at Forest Dale and in the community.

The 5th Grade Musical is open to any interested 5th grader. Auditions and rehearsals are after school, and the performances are in early May.  Students have to audition for a lead role, but do not have to audition to be part of the chorus.   

January kicks off the M.A.T.H. bowl season.  Fourth and fifth grade students who demonstrate superior math skills are selected to represent Forest Dale.  The competition requires groups of three students to solve seven complex math problems in each of the four rounds.  Team alternates are substituted in and out allowing every student to participate.  Each year almost 6,000 Hoosier students participate in M.A.T.H. Bowl!

Math Pentathlon is an (almost) all-year opportunity that will give Forest Dale Students, in grades K-5, the chance to learn and practice problem-solving and strategy skills while playing games based on fundamental math principles in a fun & supportive setting.  They will also work on sportsmanship and team building skills at our weekly practices while getting ready for the regional tournament.

Green Team confronts real world problems with creative projects aimed at making the planet greener.  Open to 4th and 5th grade students, Green Team explores fun ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle while educating students about the environment. Green typically meets on Thursdays, afterschool until 3:30 pm, January through April.

Spell Bowl is a before-school club for 4th and 5th graders.  We study the 750 spelling words provided by the state of Indiana and compete at the Carmel competition in mid-November.  Practices are typically Wednesday mornings from mid-September through mid-November.

The Student Advisory Council give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school and community service projects.  the SAC members contribute to school spirit, promote school events and fundraisers, and look for ways to help Forest Dale and the Carmel community.

Pups Running is an activity offered to fourth and fifth graders to generate an interest in running and fitness in an encouraging environment.  With fall cross country and spring track seasons, there is a focus on developing positive character qualities in students as they train for and compete in running events.

Our WFDE Broadcast Team is made up of fifth graders who keep Falcons up-to-date on everything, from important announcements, to the lunch menu, all the way to the current weather.  They read the daily announcements and run the behind-the-scenes technology to provide late breaking news and information for Forest Dale.

Forest Dale has families with heritages from all over the world.  We celebrate our diversity by having a festival to learn all about different heritages that are represented here at Forest Dale.

Each year Forest Dale has a science fair.
