At the 1/10/22 board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Beresford shared his concerns surrounding proposed education legislation.  

Carmel Clay Schools will continue to be a resource for lawmakers to understand the impact of legislation at the school level. We are monitoring the proposals and have offered our suggestions throughout the process. 

However, during this pivotal time when education is facing critical teacher and staff shortages, we should prioritize aggressive teacher recruitment and retention. We must compassionately restore the higher-calling and nobility of being an educator. In these trying times, we have the opportunity to set Indiana apart by sending a clear message to our current and future educators that they are valued, they are trusted, and we have their backs. Anything less could result in the continued crisis-level lack of educators that will have a detrimental impact on our current students and community for generations to come.
