Carmel Education Foundation (CEF) is proud to invest in a district-wide Disability Awareness program that prepares students not only for real-world readiness, but for success within the classroom. Through this commitment, more than 10,000 K–8 students across Carmel Clay Schools have access to meaningful learning experiences, shared language, and consistent messaging that promote inclusion and understanding.

CEF partners with the Joseph Maley Foundation to bring engaging Disability Awareness sessions into CCS schools. These sessions help students build empathy, acceptance, and respect for individuals of all abilities through hands-on activities and guided discussions that foster perspective and connection.

The curriculum, developed by experienced educators and updated annually, is thoughtfully designed to meet students where they are. With age-appropriate, standards-based lessons at each grade level, students build on their understanding year after year, deepening their awareness and ability to create inclusive environments.

Through continued investment in programs like this, CEF champions a culture where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. To support the continuation and expansion of this important program for the 2026-2027 school year, please contact Jenn Penix to learn how you can get involved.
