PTO meeting - MARCH 29 AT 6PM

Did you know that if your child attends PTE that you are automatically a member of the PTO?! We'd like to invite all PTE parents/caregivers to the spring PTO meeting on March 29 at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria. Officer Harris will discuss digital/internet safety for elementary students. The PTO executive board will discuss upcoming events, open PTO positions for next year, and our new fundraiser for the fall -- Boosterthon. The CCS Food Service team has a brief presentation to share as well. Questions/concerns - email Angie Dodson.

Mark your calendars!

Now that you have the date, help us make the event a success!

Are you able to donate something (gift card, gift basket, etc) to the silent auction? The auction is a huge fundraiser for Prairie Trace, and we rely on donations to make it possible. Please complete this form and email it to Jill Kuhfus or Angie Dodson. We appreciate your support!

Interested in more than donating a good or service? Want additional marketing, advertising and recognition for your business throughout the Prairie Trace Elementary community? Dear PTE Families,

Happy March!  I have loved the shift in weather this week. The students arrived on March 1st smiling, happy, and ready to be here! I’m so proud of our students and all of the shifts they have endured this year. They are working so hard each and every day. Give them a hug when they get home tonight!

This month we are working on Habit 6: Synergize!  Our students are recognizing that through daily conversations and lessons that “Together is Better”! I always tell our staff that we are all better working together, and this is our theme for the year. I’m so excited that these are messages we are teaching our students daily too.

Starting next week, our walkers and bike riders will stay outside in the morning. They will come in when the bus riders come in at 7:33 a.m. I will remind them on Friday, but please let your child know as well, so they are dressed appropriately.

We have many great learning opportunities coming up at Prairie Trace in the near future.

  • Our third grade students will be taking IREAD next week on Monday through Wednesday in the mornings. If you have a third grader who will need to have appointments scheduled, please try to plan them for the afternoon or after school.

  • Some of our 4th grade students will be presenting their Famous Hoosiers in a Wax Museum format for their parents on March 11th from 1:00 to 2:00pm. They have been working hard on their websites, and they will be excited to present their work!

  • During the week of the March 14th, our 5th grade students and Kindergarten students will have a quest author visit them throughout the week during their time in Media Center with Mrs. Dragash. Author Rob Harrell will speak to the 5th graders. He is the author of the YHBA book, Wink.  Author Rob Wiggz will speak to our kindergarten students. He is the author of Good Veggie, Bad Veggie, I Hate All Veggies. This is a children’s book promoting and encouraging reading, nutrition, and vegetable intake for children. It’s always awesome for our students to hear how authors transform their ideas into books. Thanks to the PTO for sponsoring this event for our students. The other grades will have their author visit later in the year.

  • Second grade students will be taking a field trip to the Fairgrounds on March 15th for Agricultural Day! I know they will love exploring the barns while there!

  • Our Prairie Trace Dance Marathon will be Friday, March 18th. We would love for each student to donate $1 to Riley, however, all students will participate in the fun!  We will announce spirit days for that week as well, so we can have a super fun week leading up to the Dance Marathon!

We, as a community of learners, are better together. Please continue to read with your child (no matter what age) and work on those math facts!  This special time with your little ones goes fast!

I’m honored to serve you and your family at Prairie Trace each and every day!

Thank you,

Mrs. Piper

CAFETERIA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

help our PTE students dine safely

and comfortably!

We need parents just like you to help us in the cafeteria during lunch time.  As a cafeteria helper, you will help the children find a seat, open their lunch items, get all the extras (think parmesan cheese, ketchup, napkins, and utensils!), and maintain PTE lunch room standards!  ...all while getting to socialize with your kiddos and their friends. (We all love seeing your FB and Instagram selfies!)
This is a way to help out in the school, get to know all of your child's classmates, and interact with the staff at PTE.

YES, I WANT TO HELP!
