It is important that schools and families work as partners to help our students achieve academic excellence. Through a process that included teachers, families, and students, the following agreed-upon roles and responsibilities will be carried out by us, as a school community, to support student success in school and in life.
Staff Role
I understand the importance of a positive and rigorous school experience for all students and my role as a teacher is to:
- Provide a warm, safe, and caring learning environment for students.
- Teach the concepts, processes, and skills necessary to support student achievement and personal growth through interesting and challenging lessons.
- Maintain high expectations for all students consistent with state and local standards.
- Promote and model a love for learning.
- Help students become responsible for their own learning.
- Take into account each student’s strengths and needs.
- Help students follow the school and classroom rules.
- Keep parents informed of student progress.
- Suggest ways to support learning at home.
- Provide materials to foster parental support.
Family/Parent Role
I understand that by partnering in my child’s education, I will support his or her achievement and personal growth by:
- Ensuring my child attends school every day.
- Encouraging my child’s efforts.
- Reading with my child at home and making sure homework is completed.
- Monitoring my child’s progress in school.
- Participating in school events, when possible.
- Communicating with my child’s school when I have concerns or questions about my child.
