Choir

The OPE Choir is made up of 4th & 5th grade students who love to sing! We meet once a week before school to do some high quality singing, build rehearsal technique, and acquire music reading skills that will follow them into everyday life. The OPE Choir performs twice in the fall and once in the spring; in the spring semester we welcome 3rd graders to join a 3rd grade prep choir to help them prepare for choir as fourth graders the next fall.

Green Cubs

Green Cubs is an after school club for 2nd - 5th graders at OPE. We have fun learning ways to be green and help take care of our environment through hands on activities, crafts, games, and guest speakers from the community. Throughout the year members participate in "Recycle Rangers" and are the leaders of helping to promote recycling in the cafeteria. Our meetings after school have focused on nature and wildlife appreciation.

Math Bowl

January kicks off the M.A.T.H. bowl season.  Fourth and fifth grade students who demonstrate superior math skills are selected to represent the Orchard Park team.  The competition requires groups of three students to solve seven complex math problems in each of the four rounds.  Team alternates are substituted in and out allowing every student to participate.  Each year almost 6,000 Hoosier students participate in M.A.T.H. Bowl!

Orff

The OPE Orff Ensemble is a group of 5th grade students who use movement, speech, body percussion, and percussion instruments to create music.  We play xylophones, glockenspiels, metallophones, and unpitched percussion and have the pleasure of performing in both the fall, the spring, and on the 5th grade program! The learning process is based on the teachings of the composer Carl Orff who created a style of teaching in which children learn by emulating every day play.

Pups Running

Pups Running is a not for profit organization that is committed to encouraging fitness and fun among 4th and 5th grade students through the sport of running.  With fall cross country and spring track seasons we strive to develop positive character qualities in children as they train for, and compete in, running events—qualities like: Good Health, Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Discipline, Perseverance, and Best Effort.

This mission is facilitated through the formation of school-based Pup Running Clubs for 4th and 5th grade students in the Carmel Clay School District.

Spell Bowl

Spell Bowl is a before-school club for 4th and 5th graders.  We study the 750 spelling words provided by the state of Indiana and compete at the Carmel competition in mid-November.  In 2018, we earned Second Place in the district and were tied for Indiana State Runner Up!  Wahoo OPE!  To practice these 750 words, we play computer and people games at practices. Practices are typically Wednesday mornings from mid-September through mid-November in Ms. Graziano’s room.

Student Council

Do you like to raise money for our local community? Do you like to help organize food drives and raise money for cancer research and other charities?  Sounds like the OPE Student Council is the place for you!  Student Council is the place for student leaders looking to make a positive impact on our world!

Orchard Park Student Council’s objectives are to develop positive attitudes and practices of leadership, good citizenship and school spirit, to represent the ideas of his/her class to the council and to raise money for school and community projects.  Student Council members are routinely in attendance at meetings, responsible, resourceful, respectful and proactive.

The selection for this group is based on applications available in early September, classroom performance and feedback from classroom teachers.  Meetings are before-school in Ms. Graziano’s room and typically twice a month.  Through November,  Student Council meetings are on Friday mornings.  After November, meetings are mostly on Wednesday mornings.
