CHS PTO would like to invite you to continue your support of the PTO in the Carmel School System. It is also a great way to volunteer – both to support our CHS students and staff and see CHS from the inside! You can sign up to join the PTO or volunteer from the PTO tab located on the CHS web site or directly at:
- PTO Meetings
- Homecoming Dance
- Backpack Program
- Scholastic Banquet
- Hospitality Committee
- Green Team
- Membership Fees
On the first Tuesday of each month, PTO holds a meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the Community Room. Each month CHS Principal Dr. Harmas and Counselor Mrs. Stephan provide detailed updates on what is happening at CHS. This is a great way to get the inside scoop directly from people in the know. Information discussed has varied, including topics such as Carmel School Board decisions, compliance with new state requirements, new ideas for scheduling or classes, the variety of programs offered for students and parents, testing schedules, assistance available, etc.
PTO Meeting Dates for the 2021-22 Schoolyear are: September 7, October 5, November 2, December 7, January 11, February 1, March 1, April 12 and May 3.
PTO organizes volunteers to help at CHS in a variety of ways. There are regular volunteers serving in the library, the attendance office, and the College and Career Counseling Center. Our general volunteers help throughout the year as needed. Examples include registration, yearbook/ID pictures, selling Prom tickets, greeters at different events, parent representative on different school committees, and supporting special requests from teachers.
PTO sponsors and runs the Homecoming Dance, held the Saturday after the Homecoming week. Students can come and dance in the Fieldhouse with a DJ, play cards or ping-pong in the Greyhound Cafeteria, or enjoy refreshments and hang out with their friends in the Freshman Cafeteria. Parent volunteers sell tickets during Spirit Week and volunteer at the event. This dance has great support and supervision of the CHS staff and teachers. This is also great way for both moms and dads to volunteer. The Homecoming Dance is the primary fundraiser event of the year for PTO.
The PTO Backpack Program serves students at CHS in need of extra nourishment over the weekends. Backpacks are packed by volunteers weekly and distributed to the students through the Counseling Center. Volunteers are an essential part of the backpack program. Individuals can assist with either packing, sorting, stocking, or providing food or financial donations periodically throughout the year. Please send an email to CHSbackpackprogram@gmail.com or contact Jennifer Cassidy at 317-435-4525 for additional volunteer information. Thanks for your support of the Backpack Program!
The PTO Hospitality Committee is involved throughout the school year. These are the ladies you will see serving lemonade at the fall Open House when you come to walk through your student’s schedule. The committee brings in treats for the staff at Homecoming, the end of the year and several other times during the school year to show appreciation for all their extra efforts with our students. The Hospitality Committee also holds a Staff Appreciation luncheon in the spring. Parents can volunteer to provide food or help serve.
PTO membership fees support all of the events you have just read about. PTO also provides money for special items, such as a tea for the members of the Japanese exchange program when they are visiting the United States, a grant for the CHS Art Courtyard, and donations to scholarships. Any profits left over at the end of each year are provided to Dr. Harmas for a discretionary fund to support CHS students.
Please take a few minutes to read the latest edition of the PTO's newsletter, April2021Gazette.pdf to find the information you need about the current happenings at Carmel High School.
Past issues can be found below. Also, please take some time to check out our newsletter sponsors. Their continued support makes this newsletter possible.
The Greyhound Gazette is published by the Carmel High School PTO five times a year, once in the late summer and four times during the school year. The newsletter will be available online on the Carmel High School PTO web page. Please email your article in an attachment to newsletter editor at CHS.PTO.Newsletter@gmail.com.

SENIOR YEARBOOK PHOTO DEADLINES & REQUIREMENTS:
To appear in the 2020 Pinnacle yearbook, senior composite and the printed commencement program, seniors must have their photos taken by Prestige Portraits, the official CHS photographer, no later than OCTOBER 9. Students must choose their yearbook portrait by that date, as well, so plan accordingly!
To schedule an appointment, contact Prestige Portraits at 317-564-2592 or visit https://booknow.appointment-plus.com/yclxq4j4. Additional information can also be found at prestigeportraits.com. Senior yearbook headshots must be taken at their studio location, and the $15 sitting fee will be waived through the month of August; other photos may not be used in place of senior portraits. Students are required to adhere to the CHS dress code for their yearbook pose.
Please note: While Prestige Portraits offers expanded portrait session packages, they do not require students to purchase photos and students may take additional portraits elsewhere. The yearbook headshot, however, MUST be taken by Prestige Portraits.
Prestige Portraits is located at 2325 Pointe Pkwy. #140; Carmel, Ind.
SENIOR YEARBOOK AD INFORMATION:
Pinnacle yearbook senior ads are available for purchase! Senior personal ads in the Pinnacle yearbook are a unique and lasting way to congratulate graduates and celebrate friendships. We would love to help you recognize your senior and his or her unique accomplishments.
Senior ads are available for purchase now through Friday, December 3, 2021. Please read through the attached order form carefully, as the ordering procedure has changed this year. Necessary materials and further instructions can be found at https://carmelyearbook.com/senior-ads/. . Additionally, all ad components (hard copy and online forms, photos, payment, and any applicable photo releases) must be submitted before your ad space is reserved.
All senior ads will be in color, and will be custom designed by the yearbook staff to match the tone and theme of the 2022 Pinnacle. We do not accept pre-designed ads. For legal reasons, we will need a release for any professional photos you plan to use in your ads. Please contact your photographer in advance for this document.
