Carmel High School's Science Olympiad team had an outstanding season, capping off months of dedication and competition with a first-place finish at the Indiana State Tournament, held Saturday, April 5 at Purdue University Northwest. This impressive victory qualifies the team to compete at the Science Olympiad National Tournament, which will take place May 23–24 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
Science Olympiad is a rigorous academic competition that challenges students in 23 events across a range of scientific disciplines—from written tests in Anatomy, Ecology, and Astronomy to hands-on labs in Chemistry and Forensics, as well as engineering-based events like Helicopter design and Electric Vehicle construction. The Carmel team also competed in three trial events for additional practice and experience.
This year, the team traveled to invitationals throughout Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, consistently delivering top-tier performances before dominating at the regional level and ultimately claiming the state title. Their success is a testament to the countless hours of preparation and teamwork poured into this year’s season.
