Fifth Grade Recognition Ceremony

Cherry Tree Elementary works hard to make fifth grade a special year for our patriots. Grade-level t-shirts, Camp Jameson, Biztown, the Fifth Grade Recognition Ceremony and the Fifth Grade banner are a few of the highlights. The PTO is happy to help support these marker moments.

  • Ice cream

Recognition Ceremony

May 25, 2023

Typically, for the recognition ceremony, students dress up in dresses, shirts/blouses, khakis, collared shirts, dress shirts and ties, dress shoes, etc. This is similar to Biztown attire.

After the ceremony, students have 5th grade Fun Day and they will be outside playing. Attire for Fun Day is similar to field day: gym clothes (their 5th grade t-shirts would be perfect to wear or bring as there will be an opportunity for kids to sign the backs of the shirts), gym shoes and sunscreen. Please send their Fun Day clothes to school with them so they can change before heading outside. School dress code rules apply to both events.

For the Ceremony

Doors open at 8:00 a.m.  Please enter the main entrance to the school at Door 1 facing Hazel Dell Pkwy.  The recognition ceremony will take place from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.

A reception and picture time will be held outside (weather permitting) on the north side of the school building from 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. following the ceremony.  If there is inclement weather, we will utilize the gym/cafeteria for this portion of the day.  Following the reception, we will have students return to class and we will thank adult guests for coming to the event so students can continue their day.

The 5th graders will have an opportunity to change clothes and will spend the bulk of the afternoon playing games facilitated by PTO volunteers.  Volunteers have already been established, and this is a student-only event.  There will be Tropical Sno for all 5th graders and a pizza lunch with drinks provided. Students may pack a lunch and/or bring their own drinks if they prefer.

We look forward to celebrating the end of the school year with you and your family.
