Thank you to our PTE Food Service Staff!

Dear CCS Elementary 4th and 5th grade parents,

We are happy to let you know about a fitness opportunity that is being offered. Pup Running is a Carmel school-based youth running program that is committed to encouraging fitness among elementary age children through the sport of running. Pup Running strives to develop positive character qualities in students as they train and compete in cross country and track races—qualities like: Good Health, Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Discipline, Perseverance, and Best Effort.

Amid these challenging times, we are cautiously optimistic in our ability to:

1.) offer this elective, growth opportunity to CCS families interested in participating in our program as well as

2.) remain committed to our public health responsibility and all safety protocols. Cross-country is considered a “lower-risk” sport as it relates to the spread of COVID-19 and allows for social distance. We are assiduous in offering the safest opportunity possible for our coaches, students and volunteers.

2021 Spring Cross Country Season:

Pup Meet #1 (Thur) April 29 time TBD at Northview Church XC Course

Pup Meet #2 (Thur) May 6 time TBD at Northview Church XC Course

Pup Meet #3 (Thur) May 13 time TBD. at Northview Church XC Course (It is our firm intention to give each athlete the opportunity to compete in (3) in-person 2K races; however, cancellations and/or modification to the meet schedule will be at the discretion of Pup Running, Inc.)

Important Details: ◼ We will move from our standard spring track season to a XC season. The season will consist of (3) in person 2K races. ◼ There will NOT be any Pup Running organized, coach-led practices offered (NO after school practices on school grounds). Runners will practice independently (or form a small, parent-led Pup Pack) at home in preparation for our meets. Pup Running will offer weekly updates and suggested workouts. ◼ If registration count is high, we will move to split our meets to offer east-side schools the opportunity to race first followed by west-side schools. We reserve the right to adjust based on registration numbers and current COVID-19 positivity cases. ◼ Pup Running is offered to ALL CCS 4th and 5th graders to include in-person AND virtual learners. ◼ ALL runners, coaches, volunteers and spectators will be required to wear face coverings and socially distance at the meets. Runners will wear face coverings at the start and be allowed to remove their mask once the pack spreads (typically first 50 meters). ◼ On-line registration via Race Roster is now open and will close April 1. We will NOT offer refunds. https://raceroster.com/events/2021/44642/pup-running-cross-country-spring-2021. ◼ Parents will be required to report positive COVID-19 cases thru the CCS hotline. Parents will also need to notify Pup Running, Inc. if their runner tests positive. ◼ Registration is $12 for the 3-race series. OPTIONAL spirit wear of t-shirts and face coverings is offered for purchase. Note: The t-shirt design is the same as the Fall 2020 virtual season. ◼ Top 25 place ribbons or finisher ribbons will be provided to meet participants. ◼ We are in need of parent coaching staff to assist at meets and organize runners at the starting line. Please contact Maria Gottlieb at puprunningcarmel@gmail.com.

Pup Running is committed to advancing your child’s physical, mental, social and emotional wellness. Please assess the risk/reward for your family when determining your child’s participation as well as your commitment to following the established guidelines. We are dedicated to a safe, positive, common-sense approach to leading a fun season for our CCS 4th and 5th graders
