planning a move?
If you are planning to move out of PTE’s school boundaries at the end of the academic year or over the summer CCS requires you to complete this form.
To speed up the release of your student’s academic records to their new school please return this form the front office at your earliest convenience. CCS also requests that you return your Chromebook to the front office on their last day. Please call 317 571 7925 with any questions.
Interested in getting more involved with our amazing PTO? We still have director positions available for next school year! Each director position is open to one or MORE directors, meaning you can grab a friend to share the duties - it's a lot more fun that way anyway. Fill out this google form and we will be in touch to answer any questions you may have. Also - filling this form out DOES NOT commit you to the role, it just lets us know you are interested. We look forward to hearing from you!
PTE Art at the Carmel Arts Council Children's Art Gallery
Second grade students in Mrs. Rohr, and Mrs. Szymanski's class have works displayed at the Carmel Arts Council Childrens's Gallery, on Main street in Carmel! Gallery is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The opening reception for Prairie Trace Elementary is scheduled for May 6th from 4-6pm.
PLEASE RETURN YOUR ITEMS TO THE MEDIA CENTER
Students are continuing to check out items from the PTE Media Center. Just a heads up that all materials will be due back by May 12, so we can begin to inventory the collection.
Happy reading! You can always see what your child has checked out from the PTE Media Center by clicking on the directions HERE.
Help us thank our teachers!
In addition to wonderful meals and
snacks the teachers and staff will
receive during teacher appreciation
week, we are also planning a gift card
giveaway and need your help! We are
looking for gift card donations for
teacher appreciation week. Please sign
up below to donate. We will take gift
cards in any increments from
anywhere!
THE SPRING “OdySEA” BOOK FAIR IS COMING TO PTE!
The Prairie Trace Elementary PTO is proud to bring students the joy of reading through our annual Spring Book Fair. Book Fairs encourage good reading habits, build students’ personal libraries (stock up on summer reading!), and raise funds for PTE.
-
The Book Fair will take place May 8 - 12 inside the Media Center. Students will shop during their Media Center and STEM classes. Please note students may also purchase books from Teacher Wish Lists to help build classroom libraries. What a perfect way to say thank you to a teacher!
-
Please note the Book Fair will also be open Wednesday, May 10 from 5:30 to 7:00pm during the PTE Fine Arts Fair and STEM Fair.
-
The in-school book fair is for students only. Payment methods include cash, credit, debit, check (payable to "Prairie Trace PTO"), or Literati gift cards.
-
Families may also shop our Literati Online Fair. Use the search tool in the upper lefthand corner where you see “Select your school” and choose Prairie Trace Elementary. All online orders will ship to PTE. Orders cannot be shipped to a home address.
Happy shopping and thank you for supporting student reading and PTE!
volunteers are needed
Volunteers are needed to help with the Spring Book Fair May 8-12. Duties will include set-up, tear down, helping students make wish lists, tidying up the shelves, bagging items for the cashier, helping the students get trinkets, etc. You must have a current background check on file with CCS. Prairie Trace Families,
We have had some exciting events at PTE in the last few days. Many special visitors came to Prairie Trace late last week to recognize and honor our Teacher of the Year and Support Staff Member of the Year. Each year, families, staff, and students are able to nominate someone who has made an impact in their life. Then the district reviews nominations and determines a finalist for each building. Thank you to all who nominated teachers and staff this year! All of the nominations will be shared with the staff members, and I know they will love reading the kind words you shared!
Mrs. Samantha Gaw was recognized as our Prairie Trace Teacher of the Year. She is a third grade teacher and goes above and beyond in many ways. Mrs. Gaw coaches our Spell Bowl and Math Bowl teams and is very supportive of her students and colleagues. We appreciate all that Mrs. Gaw does to build community in her classroom and ensure that all students feel included. Her class was very excited when Dr. Beresford and other Central Office guests came in to surprise her!
Mrs. Janet Waller, a PTE Instructional Assistant, was recognized as our Support Staff of the Year. Mrs. Waller works with small groups of students each and every day. Because of her hard work, our students are showing great growth in different areas. Mrs. Waller is the first person to step in and help with anything that needs to be accomplished - bus duty, carpool, crossing guard, lunch duty, and whatever else is needed. She attends all of the Dine to Donates and outside events, and she truly loves PTE!
We love being able to recognize our staff members, and we will continue to do so during teacher appreciation week which is the week of May 8th-12th. We would love it if you and your child could take some time in the next few days to share a note, card, memory with someone at PTE who has made a difference in their lives. The kind words mean the most and go a long way! Our teachers and staff work so hard each day to make their classroom the most positive experience for your child, and I love seeing the joy in learning that happens daily.
I also want to thank the PTO for organizing the Parents’ Night Out event! It was so fun, and we appreciate all who participated in trivia and the silent auction. I loved seeing all of our families having fun together!
We have some exciting events happening at PTE in the next few weeks:
May 3: Bike to School Day
May 3-4: Kindergarten Screenings for incoming kindergarten students
May 8-12: Book Fair
May 10: Late Start and Fine Arts Night 5:30-7 PM
May 12: Grade 4 Hoosier Hysteria and last day of ILEARN!
Have a great weekend!
Kim Piper
Thank you to the PTO, especially Jenna Meyer and Tiffany Schutt, and our amazing teachers, specifically Mrs. Theaker, for organizing our first Cultural Fair. And thank you to all the familiies who shared their cultures with us all!
CAFETERIA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We need parents just like you to help us in the cafeteria during lunch time. As a cafeteria helper, you will help the children find a seat, open their lunch items, get all the extras (think parmesan cheese, ketchup, napkins, and utensils!), and maintain PTE lunch room standards! ...all while getting to socialize with your kiddos and their friends. (We all love seeing your FB and Instagram selfies!)
