Dear Prairie Trace Families,

I trust this letter finds you well-rested and filled with warmth on these colder days. It was awesome to see the students this week! I want to extend a heartfelt welcome to the beginning of the new semester at Prairie Trace. It's a time of renewal, growth, and exciting opportunities for our young Hawks!

Winter break allowed our students to recharge their batteries, and I hope you enjoyed precious moments with family and friends. Now, as we embark on the remainder of the school year, I want to take a moment to review our shared expectations and provide important information regarding inclement weather procedures. We reviewed all of our expectations with the students this week too! They are ready to be the best they can be!

When we discussed building expectations, we covered the following topics:

Academic Excellence: Our commitment to academic excellence remains unwavering. We will continue to challenge and support each student in their educational journey. Please encourage a positive attitude towards learning and reinforce the importance of regular attendance. We asked the students to limit distractions to their classmates, so all students can focus on learning.

Communication is Key: Open communication is fundamental to our success. We encourage parents to stay connected with teachers and the school. Feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or updates about your child.

Community Spirit: We are all HAWKS!  Our school thrives on a sense of community. We value diversity and inclusivity, and we ask for your support in fostering a welcoming environment for all students.

Safety First: With winter comes the potential for inclement weather. We prioritize the safety of our students and staff. Please review the inclement weather procedures outlined below.

Inclement Weather Information:

In the event of severe weather conditions, such as snow or ice, that may impact the normal school day, please be aware of the following:

  • Announcements: School closure or delay information will be communicated through our official channels, including our school website, social media platforms, and local news outlets.

  • Automated Calls/Texts: You will receive automated calls or texts regarding any changes to the school schedule. Ensure that your contact information is up-to-date in our records.

  • Safety Precautions: During winter weather, please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately with warm clothing. Safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your cooperation in keeping our students prepared. If the “feels like” is 20 degrees or higher, students will go out for recess. If there is snow on the ground, they will need boots and snow gear to play in the snow. Please search for those items now, so you are not rushing in the morning to find them!

I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in the coming semester. Together, as a collaborative learning community, we can ensure the success and well-being of every student.

Mark your calendars if you have an incoming kindergarten student. Kindergarten registration begins on January 22nd! Please let your friends and neighbors in the Prairie Trace community know!

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to a fantastic and productive semester ahead.

Warm regards,

Kim Piper
Principal
