Dear Prairie Trace Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the much-anticipated winter break, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible achievements and moments of growth we've experienced together during the first semester. It has been a joy to witness the enthusiasm and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff members in creating a positive learning environment at Prairie Trace.

Our students have excelled in various academic and extracurricular activities, and their hard work has not gone unnoticed. Whether it's in the classroom, on the stage, or in after school clubs, our students continue to demonstrate excellence, creativity, and resilience. Mrs. Browne and I have been meeting with every teacher to discuss NWEA scores, and we have seen some great growth for our students. Continue to read at home each night with your child and work on their math facts each night. As our students become more fluent, they also become more confident with the new skills.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our amazing teachers and staff for their unwavering commitment to providing quality education and support to our students. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and it is truly the cornerstone of our school's success. Please take some time over break to have your child write a letter or card of appreciation to the staff member that they can rely on throughout their days. This will make their days when they return from winter break!

As we prepare to enter the winter break, I encourage all families to take this time to relax, recharge, and enjoy quality time together. Winter break is an opportunity for our students to rest and rejuvenate, setting the stage for a successful second semester. Read some good books, watch some fun movies, and simply be present with your child. I just heard a podcast yesterday that was a good reminder for me - every time your child sees you with a phone in your hand, they are reminded that they are not the most important thing to you. Take that time to cherish the small moments (without technology) with your child over break.

Please be reminded of the following important dates:

  • Last Day of School Before Winter Break: December 22

  • First Day Back to School: January 9

Please review the carpool expectations, especially as the weather gets cooler and more students are in the morning line.

  • Carpool (AM) Reminder- Please take advantage of our early drop off hours on regular school days starting at 7:15am and on late starts at 7:55am. This is extremely helpful to our carpool line, as we typically have an increase of carpool riders when the weather is cold. It allows for our line to continuously flow instead of backing up. In addition to that, we close our carpool line at 7:40am. If you pull into our lot at or after 7:40am, you are expected to park and walk your student in to allow them to get to class in a timely manner - do not drop your student off if an adult is not at the front door.

Mark your calendars for the fun events we have planned for the second semester!  We are looking forward to continuing our journey of learning and growth together.

On behalf of the entire Prairie Trace family, I wish you all a joyful holiday season filled with warmth, laughter, and memorable moments. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for an amazing second semester.

Warm regards,

Kim Piper
Principal
