Dear PTE Families,

I would like to start by thanking our awesome parent volunteers for all of their hard work for our school community. Our parents always spread the love and support our needs through treats, helping with resources, planning parties, leading Chat N Chew and Chess Club, helping in our media center, and working with our students. I appreciate your feedback and ideas! There are so many amazing ways to engage and support our PTE community - we love our school-family partnerships!

Our students in upper grades are getting reading to begin their standardized testing with IREAD for grade 3 and ILEARN for grades 3-5. The dates for IREAD are March 1st through March 9th, so please try to plan your appointments and trips accordingly. ILEARN will be occurring in April and May (April 17-May 12). Please continue to read with your child at home each night and continue to work on math facts in order to help with their number sense and computation at home.

We had a great time celebrating our classroom leaders today in our Leadership Convocation!  Next month, we will be focusing on how to work together as we all know we are BETTER TOGETHER!

We have many fun events planned for the near future.  We are so lucky to be able to offer different experiences and opportunities for our students!

  • Feb. 28:  Spring pictures for new students - optional for others

  • March 2:  Special Author Visit sponsored by PTO!  Stacey McAnulty will be here to discuss the writing process with the students.

  • March 3:  Leadership Bootcamp - Students will participate in special team building activities with their grade level to demonstrate our leadership skills and the power of working together.

  • March 6:  IREAD starts for grade 3 - Have a great breakfast and get a good night’s rest!

  • March 8:  Late Start

  • March 10:  Kindergarten will celebrate Read Across America!  Fourth and fifth grade students will have the opportunity to listen to PTE parent, Dr. Jakobi Williams, who will present a Black History lesson on the history of black music and how important it is to learn from one another and embrace our diverse classrooms.

I hope you have seen the information on our upcoming Culture Fair in April!  We would love to see our many PTE cultures represented, so we can all continue to learn from one another!

Proud to be your principal,

Kim Piper
