Smoky Row’s Fall Fundraiser
Although the PTO’s budget is established and initially voted on in the Spring preceding the start of the school year, the money that actually funds the budget does not begin flowing into the school until SRE’s Fall Fundraiser. The Fall Fundraiser is usually a week-long event in mid-September that involves students, parents and staff. Its goal is to raise enough money to fund the PTO Budget for most (if not all) of the school year.

Jenny Bojrab and Charlotte Hadley
Our Fall Fundraiser occurs in September and funds almost the entire year's PTO budget. We will be doing the Fun Run again this year, the kick off for the campaign will be September 9th and the run will be on September 17th. Volunteers on this committee will help decorate the school to generate student enthusiasm and assist Committee Chairs in all aspects of executing the event on various days throughout the two week fundraising period.
Family Fun Nights
Family Fun Nights are events that are intended to support connections in our SRE community. This year we will be planning one event in the fall in conjunction with the Fall Book Fair and a second event, Bingo Night, on January 25th. Volunteers on this committee will help to set up, execute activities on the night of the event, and clean up.
Volunteers on this committee help brighten teachers and staff days throughout the year. The events are a Back to School luncheon, boxed lunches for Track and Field Day and organizing treats on the first Thursdays of each month.
Family Movie Night
Our outdoor family movie night will be on Friday, October 1st. Volunteers on this committee will help to set up, attend movie night and help with any cleanup. Some ideas are to sell popcorn and/or other treats and to invite families to bring a picnic and chairs/blankets, while viewing the movie.
Science Fair for Kindergarten-3rd Grade
Promote the event, coordinate volunteers for kickoff, as well as work the event by setting up and/or checking in families.
Science Fair for 4th and 5th
Help with promoting the event at kickoff, as well as set up and/or check in or serve as a mentor or judge on the actual day of the event.
This committee is responsible for planning various activities to show how much our students and families appreciate the SRE staff. Throughout the year, this committee provides baked goods, tokens or messages to show our appreciation for specific weeks or days of staff recognition.
These volunteers will collect pictures throughout the year at various school events and put together the yearbook for families to order.
4th and 5th Grade Social
This event gives SRE 4th and 5th graders an opportunity to socialize after school hours. The 4th/5th social will be on Friday, October 29th. Volunteers will assist with everything from planning to monitoring students the night of the event.
5th Grade Amazing Race
Volunteers will help plan and execute an experience designed to bring 5th graders even closer as they prepare to end their time at SRE and begin new adventures at Carmel Middle School. In the past, this activity has been modeled after the Amazing Race.
5th Grade Williamsburg Week
This is an annual event/activity held during the school day for 5th graders. Think: Connor Prairie in the school! Volunteers will help plan and run colonial-themed activities throughout the week (such as candle making, crafts, storytelling, butter churning, etc.).
5th Grade Recognition Ceremony
Volunteers will help plan and execute the 5th Grade recognition ceremony which includes decorating for the graduation ceremony and a special 5th grade lunch.
Diversity and Inclusion
The mission of this newer committee is to promote love and unity in our diverse SRE community by enabling all to feel valued, seen, heard, and included through the recognition and celebration of our similarities and differences. Volunteers will help plan events and programs that will celebrate and encourage dialogue about diversity.
