
Captions transform videos into equitable learning tools, ensuring accessibility is a standard, not an afterthought. Break language and hearing barriers by adding captions to every video. Digital accessibility in Indiana has shifted from best practice to legal requirement.
CCS Staff have access to YouTube, Google Vids, and Screencastify to help provide accessible resources for students and community members.
YouTube

YouTube generates automated captions by default, which can be easily customized or refined in the settings.
For captions to appear, select closed captions.

If captions cannot be generated automatically, video creators can manually adjust them.
Select Subtitles from the left-hand navigation menu.

Select the video.

Manage the subtitle text, timings, and more from this menu.

Google Vids

Autogenerated captions are generated in Google Vids.
To check the status of captions, select Tools > Closed captions.

Autogenerated captions are toggled on by default.
Select Play to view captions.


If errors in the closed captions of a video, manage them by selecting Tools > Closed captions.

Manually enter captions to add to the video if needed.

Once you select Captions & Translation, a Generating captions message appears.
