Managing Quarantine Email Notifications
Abby Pagryzinski
Outlook

CCS uses two filtering tools for our email system - Tangent and Microsoft.

Tangent Filtering

CCS Staff must log in to Tangent in order to start receiving notifications of messages being held in quarantine.

In the CCS Staff Portal, select the Tangent - Email Filter tile.

Log in with a CCS email address and CCS network password.

Tangent Login

Once logged in, navigate to Settings -> Quarantine Report Settings.

Change ‘Email me a quarantine report every:’ to your desired interval and click Save. (We recommend ‘Day’.)

Change the "Include the following items in the report:" to "New Items Since Last Report” to make the Quarantine Report easier to read.

Select Save.

Microsoft Filtering

Notifications from Microsoft’s Quarantine tool are turned on automatically.  Users will receive an email if they have messages in quarantine. This means that Microsoft has deemed the message suspicious, and the end user can determine the next steps.

A notification will look like this:

A user will have three options for each message:

  • Review Message - view the message and make the decision to receive the message or delete it.
  • Request Release - send a request to the ITDS team for the message to be released. Carefully consider the message and only request if this message was expected. ITDS will not release the message if deemed unsafe.
  • Block Sender - Request Microsoft to permanently block the sender to avoid future quarantine messages from this sender.

If the user does not choose one of these three options, the message will be automatically deleted after 30 days.
