Sharing YouTube Videos in Canvas
Kate Masterson

To keep students safe online, we enforce strict YouTube filtering. Some of the videos selected for virtual learning are not considered “safe” by YouTube and therefore are available to students.

To help alleviate this problem, please ensure you are linking or embedding your Youtube content directly into Canvas. Links can be shared directly in Canvas modules or shared/embedded anywhere you use Canvas’ Rich Content Editor (in Announcements, Pages, Assignments, Discussions, Quizzes, Syllabus). Our filter can determine when links are placed within Canvas and therefore makes them available to students.

If you embed YouTube links within other documents such as PDFs, Google Docs, Google Slides, or Seesaw and then share those documents through Canvas, your link may be blocked.
