Zoom Updates for 2020-2021
Kate Masterson

Welcome back!

Over the summer, we updated our CCS Zoom account and we wanted to remind you of the ways you can help to keep students safe while using Zoom, as well as update you on the exciting new features.

Zoom Best Practices

  1. Ask students/families what name to expect when connecting to Zoom - do not admit users you do not recognize
  2. Don't use 'Admit all' when allowing users into meetings
  3. Do share the link to your meeting within your Canvas course
  4. Don't post the link to your meeting on social media or anywhere publicly available on the web
  5. Don't enable 'Join Before Host' - you don't want students in your meeting before you get there - this setting is forced off for CCS Zoom accounts
  6. The Waiting Room feature is enabled automatically - this requires you to grant permission to those who request to join
  7. Do consider locking your meeting once all participants arrive to prevent anyone else from joining
  8. Don't turn on the ability for participants to share their screens until all participants have joined and you've locked your meeting
  9. Don't post pictures or screenshots of your Zoom meeting that show student names

New for 2020-2021

  1. Access to Zoom is now through the CCS staff portal. Log in to the portal using your CCS network user name and password and select the Zoom icon - you will automatically be logged in to Zoom.
  2. Be sure you see that the license has been applied to your account. When logged into Zoom on the web, select your profile picture in the upper right-hand corner. You should see the word Licensed next to your name. If not, log completely out of Zoom and log back in via the portal.
