The Carmel Clay Schools kindergarten program offers students a variety of developmentally appropriate and intellectually engaging learning experiences. We recognize that a number of factors contribute to a successful kindergarten experience, including:
- language skills
- an ability to solve problems and think creatively
- social and emotional well-being
- general knowledge about the world
- physical health
Individual traits, life experiences, and personal growth blend to shape each child's distinct personality. Teachers and administrators acknowledge these differences, taking on the responsibility of designing a kindergarten program that caters to the developmental needs of every student.
Each child of legal settlement shall be eligible for kindergarten providing that s/he has attained the age of five (5) on or before August 1st of the enrolling year as specified in IC 20-33-2-7.
An extensive waiver process is available to any parent/guardian who would like consideration for early kindergarten enrollment. Early entrance waiver reviews will be made for students who exhibit a command of both academic and social skills far beyond their age group peers and will be five (5) years of age on or before October 1st of the enrolling year.
For more information on the waiver process, please contact the building level principal at the school of designated enrollment.
