Creekside Middle School’s Steven Pelych Named 2024 State Middle School Principal of the Year

CARMEL, IN – Steven Pelych, who leads Creekside Middle School, has been named the 2024 State Middle School Principal of the Year by the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP). This prestigious recognition was announced during the IASP Principals of the Year Recognition Celebration, part of the association’s annual Fall Professional Conference held on Sunday, November 24, 2024.

Mr. Pelych, who also earned the title of District 5 Middle School Principal of the Year, was selected for his exceptional leadership and dedication to student success. District 5 includes Boone, Hamilton, Howard, Madison, Miami, and Tipton counties, making this a significant honor among his peers in central Indiana.

“It is an honor to be recognized by my colleagues and the IASP,” said Pelych. “I am proud to serve the Carmel community and work alongside such talented educators, students, and families who make our school a special place to learn and grow.”

Mr. Pelych joined Carmel Clay Schools at Creekside Middle School in 2022. A proud Carmel resident, he lives with his wife and two children and is deeply involved in the community. He volunteers with Carmel Dad’s Club and serves as President of the Butler University Young Alumni Board while also contributing to the Lilly Scholars Network Advisory Board. Outside of his professional and volunteer work, Mr. Pelych enjoys golf, basketball, and the increasingly popular sport of pickleball.

The IASP serves over 3,400 building-level administrators across Indiana, supporting school leaders through professional development and advocacy. Each year, one principal is chosen from each of the 12 IASP districts to represent their peers as District Principals of the Year. From this group, the State Principal of the Year is selected, making Mr. Pelych’s achievement a testament to his outstanding contributions to education.

Carmel Clay Schools congratulates Mr. Pelych on this well-deserved recognition and celebrates his dedication to making Creekside Middle School a thriving and inclusive learning environment for all students.
